Why the need for a diagnostic fault code check
When your engine management lights pop up on your dashboard a diagnostic check of the vehicle is required to check for any fault codes present, this will help us identify the problem before more serious damage can be caused to your vehicle.
Unfortunately these lights tend to come on at the most inappropriate time but with a simple call to A&A Tyres on 02920 371808 and we can get you booked in and plug in our latest Launch diagnostic system and read what fault codes are present.
These fault codes pop up due to a network of on-Board computers know as Electronic Control Units (ECUs) which constantly monitor the performance of the vehicle and can self- diagnose faults, Sensors all-round the vehicle then report back to the ECU if there are problems such increased engine temperature or low fluid levels. When an issue is identified the ECU then generates an error code or warning light which will appear on your dashboard. These codes can be meaningless without the proper a diagnostic code reader so we use an OBD scanner to read the fault codes and find out more specific information about the nature of the problem.
As you can imagine the modern day car has hundreds of potential OBD error codes that can only be read by a specialist technician using specialist diagnostic equipment. While a warning light may display on the dashboard alerting you to an issue, a diagnostics fault code check is required to start to understand the issue and determine if a more in-depth diagnostic session is required.
Check Engine Light Appears
If your check engine light is on it’s important that a technician inspects your vehicle as soon as possible before further, more serious damage is caused to your vehicle engine, especially if your check engine light is flashing as this usually indicates a serious problem or emergency.
Our diagnostic scanners check for faults across a wide range of vehicle systems including engine management, tyres, emissions, lights and comfort controls. Live data displays multiple values from around the engine to ensure all components are working as expected when rectifying an issue.
